RoadMap GPS Mapping on OpenMoko FreeRunner
RoadMap GPS Mapping on OpenMoko FreeRunner
This is an experimental version of Roadmap for the OpenMoko FreeRunner using Qtopia.
This page will contain a packaged version an details no how to re-build soon, but if you are impatient, you can try the following:
Get following file onto your FR:
roadmap.tgz
on your FR, do:
cd /
tar -xvpf roadmap.tgz
. ./opt/Nokia/Qtopia/qpe.env
cd /media/mmcblk0p2/apps/roadmap
./qtroadmap
or
./qtroadgps
MAPS
In the above package there is only a map of San Francisco included; but it is possible to download free maps from OpenStreetMap.org for any region (I already did it for my place, see screenshots below). Details on howto download a map for your region will follow as soon as I tested it a bit more (and did some cleanup). In the mean time you might consider taking some time to improve the OpenStreetMap.org maps for your region ;-)
All feedback welcome (success&failure reports): fr@linux4.be

The original RoadMap was (and still is) developed by Pascal Martin. As of 2007, Paul Fox has taken over as "maintainer of the moment". A version of RoadMap for the Sharp Zaurus was developed by Latchesar Ionkov (who wrote the original QT support). The support for the Digital Charts of the World was contributed by Stephen Woodbridge. The version of RoadMap for Windows (PocketPC) is developed and supported by Ehud Shabtai (eshabtai at gmail dot com). Paul Fox has added GPX data interchange support for trips, routes, landmark, and points-of-interest. Ehud and Paul have added street labeling and other features as well. Alex Briosi and Oleg Gusev contributed the QT4 desktop port.
